Obama to reinstate a permanent assault weapons ban!

Barack Omaba announced in February that he plans on making the 1994 assault weapons ban (which died off in 2004) permanent. Is this country so far gone that they cannot remember how badly the last one did absolutely nothing! In fact, in 2004, when the ban ended, crime rates fell, even though these scary weapons were now back in the hands of law abiding citizens. This is totally insane.

Firstly, the assault weapons ban bans guns based purely on aesthetics, having nothing to do with the fact that they are in any way more dangerous than any other weapon, because statistically they are not, although a little dose of common sense can tell us that. Politicians banning guns based on how they look scares me to death; what's next, scary looking cars (Obama is already trying to get rid of SUV's; so no one can spout slippery slope on this one.) The politicians call these "military style" weapons, and no one know for sure what a "military style" weapon is, when politicians or Brady camp. members have been asked to define this, they simply cannot, yet they sure push and push to ban these things, ironically.

Secondly, the items that classify an assault weapon are even more ridiculous than the idea that crime will decline if they are banned. To be classified as an assault weapon, a rifle needs to have a detachable magazine and two of a list of other "scary" attributes. First, lets talk about the detachable magazine. I assume that the theory that runs through the democratic mindset (all I can do is assume, since they don't even know what type of weapons they want to ban) is that if you can't swap magazines fast then crime will stop. Unfortunately, they obviously don't know that you can get clips (yes there is a difference between a magazine and a clip) for many non-detachable mag guns. All you do is line the clip up, push the bullets in and you're ready to go again; this does not slow down the loading process enough to stop crime!

Another ridiculous add-on to the ban was a ten round limit for magazines. In other words you get no more than ten shots out of the weapon. I hate to break it to you, you can kill someone with as little as one bullet. Limiting someone who has intent to kill a person to only ten shots does nothing! Between 1974 and 1995, fatal criminal shootings decreased 1% (does not sound like a lot, but the actual numbers are quite big,) a time when high capacity pistols were prevalent (1996 Bureau of Justice). All this means is that criminals made their shots count!

To be classified as a true assault weapon, the rifle needed two of the following. A bayonet mount, grenade launcher mount, pistol grip, a flash supressor, or a folding/ telescoping stock.

To start, I have no knowledge of a criminal bayonet attack in the history of the United States; think about it, how many drive-by bayonetings have we seen on the news. These creatures on capital hill are moronic enough to ban something that has NEVER posed a threat to anyone on the home front (I cannot say the same for other countries soldiers.)

Now, the grenade launcher mount that the ban refers to is not the one that you see on current M16's used by our military, those mounts have been banned since the early 1900's. What they are referring to is a rail that was invented in the WWII era. It is archaic, and you can't get the launchers or grenades for it anyway. Once again, your tax dollars at work, keeping you safe from things that pose absolutely no threat to you, and haven't for some 50 odd years.

Why pistol grips are part of the ban, I cannon even ponder (hey I can only think like a democrat so far.) All this means is that your hand holds onto a grip like that of a pistol; and it is all about preference, some people don't like pistol grips, what this accomplishes is out of the realm of my imagination. Once again, these are people we elected doing this!!!!!

Flash suppressors have been pretty well regulated for as long as they have been around. The theory around these is that they make it hard to tell where the shots came from, so it would be hard to know if you were shooting, as if walking around with an AR15 wouldn't be a dead giveaway. Let me remind you of what Alexander Hamilton once said "Here sir the people Govern," in other words, we are in control, we tell these people what to do, these senseless bans need to be our reason to get rid of them.

The folding/ collapsable stocks being banned, well once again let me say that a person walking around with an AR is going to be seen. Folding stocks don't make a rifle of these sizes easily concealable, so once again, a totally useless part of the ban.

This is real people, as sad as it is, and Obama want this to be permanent. This is totally insane; the last time assault weapons were banned, crime rates went up. Don't forget that the second amendment says "shall not be infringed," in other words hands off Government, this is the amendment that lets the people be in charge!
